On May 22, the DutcH₂ Aviation Hub, a program of Rotterdam The Hague Innovation Airport (RHIA), hosted a special edition of the RHIA Café at the World Hydrogen Summit. Held at the Port of Rotterdam stand (Stand E03) in Ahoy Rotterdam, this event was a key part of the world’s largest dedicated hydrogen gathering.
Highlights of the event
The event celebrated two successful days at the summit. Attendees were offered a unique opportunity to explore the future of hydrogen-powered aviation through a guided tour led by the DutcH₂ Aviation Hub program.
Tour of partner organizations
Participants visited three notable organizations significant in advancing hydrogen technology in aviation:
- Air Products Europe: Attendees learned about Air Products’ involvement in hydrogen-aviation projects and their plans for a second large-scale liquefaction plant at the Port of Rotterdam.
- Fabrum: The tour provided insights into Fabrum’s hydrogen liquefaction technology and their small-scale hydrogen liquefier at Christchurch Airport.
- Chart Industries, Inc.: Visitors explored cryogenic transport trailers and the development of a liquid hydrogen trailer and transfer system within the European GOLIAT project.
Insights and networking
The Port of Rotterdam shared valuable perspectives on the region’s hydrogen ecosystem, covering aspects from production and import to transport and end-use. The event concluded with a networking opportunity during the closing drinks, facilitated by the City of Rotterdam, the Province of Zuid-Holland, Innovation Quarter, and the Port of Rotterdam.
This event marked the ongoing efforts to integrate hydrogen solutions into aviation, showcasing the progress being made by the DutcH₂ Aviation Hub and its partners.
